Devising how to apply a noise standard in a planning context is fun. You can perform complex calculations and clearly write the story about the results. You can readily explain CNEL, Leq, Lmax, CEQA, EIR, and MND to your non-noise/planner nerd friends. You know the difference between sound and noise. What working at Ascent would be like:

- Review, interpret, and apply noise standards established by local noise ordinances.
- Calculate noise levels associated with proposed development and infrastructure projects using a range of computation tools.

- Explain concepts of noise exposure to planning officials and the public.

We are seeking a candidate with a passion for planning and noise impact issues who would conduct technical analyses; computation of noise levels; community planning; and writing of technical report sections. Assignments may include analyses for CEQA and NEPA documents, sound level measurements, community plans, and noise reduction strategies.
Qualifications include a BS or higher degree in acoustics, engineering, planning, environmental science, math, environmental policy, sustainability, or a related field with 2 or more years of relevant experience. Strong analytical, computer, and writing skills are a must. Spreadsheet and calculation software skills are also desired. The successful candidate will be hard working, conscientious, interpersonally skilled, and team-oriented. Air quality, greenhouse gas, and/or traffic analysis experience is a plus.
